New Silver Spring, Md.-based Staff Supports Educators Worldwide as they Transform Teaching and Learning –

Silver Spring, Md. (October 13, 2016) – Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, today announced three new appointments to its Curriculum and Customer Success teams.  These talented individuals, based in Discovery Education’s headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., will work with educators worldwide to develop and implement customized solutions that engage students and increase academic achievement.

Camsie McAdams, Discovery Education’s new Director of STEM Curriculum, contributes to the organization more than 15 years of experience in urban, public K-12 education.  An experienced STEM leader, McAdams is leading the development of new, comprehensive STEM instructional resources and curriculum that supports Discovery Education’s partners’ efforts to increase student achievement.

Prior to joining Discovery Education, McAdams was Partner of Academic Strategy at The New Teacher Project (TNTP). McAdams also served in the Obama Administration as the Deputy Director for STEM at the U.S. Department of Education from 2012-2015, and as the Director of STEM for District of Columbia Public Schools from 2011-12. With over a decade of experience teaching math, science and literacy in New York City Public Schools and in California’s Oakland Unified School District, she is a recipient of several teaching awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching for the state of New York. McAdams received a degree in general engineering and political science from the University of Denver, and a Masters of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Deanne Rotfeld joins Discovery Education as its new Vice President of Customer Success. In her new role, Rotfeld leads a team dedicated to meeting the continually evolving and varied needs of Discovery Education’s school-based partners as they integrate the organization’s best-in-class services and solutions into teaching and learning. In addition, Rotfeld oversees the entire customer lifecycle including onboarding, customer management and support, and more.

Rotfeld joins Discovery Education from Amplify, where she served as Executive Director of Account Management and was responsible for customer satisfaction and customer relationships. Prior to that role, she served as President and Founder of Progressive Educational Consulting Group, LLC, an educational consulting company created to support schools going through ISBE special education audits. Rotfeld has also served as a case manager and special education teacher for Chicago Public Schools, and as a special education graduate instructor for Northeastern Illinois University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and environmental studies from Bowling Green State University, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching Special Education from National-Louis University.

Jeremy Magid joins Discovery Education as Senior Manager of Customer Success. In this capacity, Magid leads a team providing exemplary user support to the approximately 3 million educators using Discovery Education’s services. Magid joins Discovery Education from AOL, where he served as Senior Call Center Tactical Operations Manager. In that capacity, he led the day-to-day management of a critical tactical operations team responsible for issue triage and resolution across entire the operational landscape. Prior to that role, Magid spent nine years at Digital Management, Inc., a global, end-to-end mobility company. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
